Tijana Radenković – Eden Immortal Place

The solo exhibition project  Eden Immortal Place is a logical continuation of the previous research on issues related to identity, solidarity or, in a sense, stability. The project is based on the phenomenon of “Biophilia”, a term first used by psychologist Erich Fromm and further developed by the American biologist Edward O. Wilson, who pointed out the consequences of separation from nature. The author seeks to reconstruct the ideal place, the Garden of Eden, representing immortality, a utopia based on mythology, but at the same time it is an attempt to reconstruct society – it is a reflection of the decaying systems we have witnessed in the past, present and necessary future.

Open *Studios* Night vol.16

The sixteenth evening of open studios is moving once again from our studios to your living room. Tijana Radenković from Serbia and Jagoda Dobecka from Wroclaw, Poland, travelled to Košice even in these times to start their residency and will introduce themselves to you on March 25 at 6 pm via live broadcast on our Facebook. We look forward to another online meeting!

Two Shapes of Leaf on Tree

The concept of the exhibition seeks to outline the attributes of the stories of the transformation of both countries after the collapse of the Soviet Union, with a focus on their economic, political, cultural, and ethical consequences. The project, indeed, does not seek to solve current problems or offer “definite” answers – it aims to redraw the complex aspects of the post-transformation situations of both countries, which have been marked by rising authoritarian and anti-democratic tendencies in recent years.

Open Studios Day

Meet our residency artists Laura and Abel and find out what they are working on in the studios during their stay in Košice. Because at the moment we cannot prepare our classical format of Open Studios Night, we decided to open them up during the whole day so you can visit the artists in small groups.

LUCIA GAŠPAROVIČOVÁ – PRACTICE OF SOLITUDE

Exhibition Practice of Solitude combines the work of two environments and two authors in a mutual space. The first environment consists only of the memories of the Western Fjords of Iceland, where Lucia Gašparovičová spent one month during the winter this year. The second place represents Košice, where Lucia was creating together with partner and artist Ján Skaličan during two summer months at the residency programme K.A.I.R. Košice Artist in Residence. Practice of Solitude is not an objective representation of reality.
