The performance is the result of a two-month residency of Dominika Badžová and František Balog as part of the In the Footsteps of Kalo Dant project, which aimed to connect artists with local Roma communities to provide space for mutual inspiration, knowledge sharing, development of trust, creativity and imagination.
The exhibition in the East Slovak Gallery, at Alžbetina 22, presents the results of a two-month residency of artists Đejmi Hadrović and Nežka Zamar, which were created as part of an international project called Hydra Pace. The project brings together artists from Palestine, Slovenia and Slovakia live and online, whose task is to analyze the current situation and think about our future concerning coexistence, communities, connection, and co-experience.
Within the Hydra PACE — Platform for Artistic Collaboration and Exchange, we cordially invite you to join an artist talk of Palestinian visual artist Mohammed Al Hawajri in conversation with the curators Husam Abusalem (Ramallah Municipality) and Petra Housková (KAIR Košice Artist in Residence). Al Hawajri will take us through the journey of his artistic practice by presenting a selection of artworks and their connected narrative to his life in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
In the summer edition of Open Studios Night, you will be introduced to our two current residency artists – Đejmi Hadrović and Nežka Zamar from Slovenia, who are at our residence as part of the Hydra Pace project. During the evening, you will be able to get acquainted with their ongoing projects and also take part in the participatory project of Nežka Zamar, which aims to create an interactive audio map of the city.
We cordially invite everyone to a friendly meeting for this participatory project, which will take place on June 22 at 6 p.m. in the Košice City Park near the glass statue Pavilions of Dan Graham. Due to the fact that this project is closely related to working with the community, our first picnic will be followed by other interesting meetings.
