Human body is palimpsest.
Consciousness is palimpsest.
Culture is a palimpsest.
The city is a total kingdom of palimpsests, where we are at the same time slaves and kings.
We live among complex systems of layers, creating new layers or diving into old ones — it is the constant orgy of combinatorics as the main life strategy. This principle, which has the property of fractal, pierces everything around us. And we are its source and creation.
The “Palimpsest” project is a small incision of the local environment. With its help, it became possible to make contact and critically comprehend surrounding social and urban atmosphere. This experience of mutual enrichment, without intervention, is one of the most important practices of hodiernal era of globalization, which is so characteristic only to absorb, but not to interact. Since we live in the age of permanent changes, this process must transmute into constant life practice, that gradually will lead to the evolutionary result, as the steps to the exit.

We cordially invite you to Vitaliy Agapeyev’s exhibition Palimpsest. Agapeyev spent 2 months on a residency stay within project K.A.I.R. Košice Artist in Residence and he is focusing works on such concepts as a transgression, consciousness, code, sanctitude, ecology and a synergy of all these concepts in post-internet culture. In this sense domains, Vitaliy makes researches and experiments with media, formats and a conceptual component.

The residency program is supported using public funding by Slovak Arts Council. The stay is also supported by Košice city and Creative Industry Košice. The residency is organized in cooperation with Nazar Voitovych Art Residence.
