Mohammed Al Hawajri – Artist Talk

Within the Hydra PACE — Platform for Artistic Collaboration and Exchange, we cordially invite you to join an artist talk of Palestinian visual artist Mohammed Al Hawajri in conversation with the curators Husam Abusalem (Ramallah Municipality) and Petra Housková (KAIR Košice Artist in Residence). Al Hawajri will take us through the journey of his artistic practice by presenting a selection of artworks and their connected narrative to his life in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.

Mohammed Al Hawajri (*1976) is a Palestinian artist born and currently lives in Gaza Strip. Using different techniques and mediums, such as drawing, video, photography, and installations, he reflects the daily conditions of life in the Gaza Strip – an experience of constant political, economic and social disruption. Al Hawajri desires to transform these circumstances into critical and often sarcastic interventions to bring people closer to the realities of different humanitarian issues. His interest in contemporary art stems from the belief that art has a significant role in creating awareness in societies as well as raises questions and opens doors to dialogue between people from different cultures. That is, by using a universal language that does not need a translation.
Al Hawajri’s work has been displayed in many exhibitions in Palestine and abroad. He has received invitations to participate in art shows in the UK, Italy, France, Switzerland, Austria, Japan, Argentina, USA, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, and Spain.
Hydra PACE — Platform for Artistic Collaboration and Exchange is the collaboration of three partners from Slovenia, Palestine, and Slovakia, aiming to form a growing network of existing and new international artist-in-residency programs for established and emerging artists. The project is co-funded by the Anna Lindh Foundation and the European Union.
The residency program of KAIR Košice Artist Residence is supported using public funding by Slovak Arts Council.

محمد الحواجري (مواليد 1976) فنان فلسطيني ولد ويعيش حاليا في قطاع غزة. بتطويع تقنيات ووسائط مختلفة – مثل الرسم والفيديو والتصوير الفوتوغرافي والتركيبات – يعكس الحواجري ظروف الحياة اليومية في قطاع غزة ليحاكي تجربة الاضطراب السياسي والاقتصادي والاجتماعي المستمر. يرغب الحواجري في تحويل هذه الظروف إلى تدخلات ناقدة وساخرة لتقريب الحقائق حول قضايا إنسانية متعددة. ينبع اهتمام الحواجري بالفن المعاصر من إيمانه بأن للفن دورًا مهمًا في نشر الوعي في المجتمعات المختلفة، كما أن الفن يثير التساؤلات ويفتح الأبواب للحوار بين الأشخاص من ثقافات متعددة من خلال استخدام الفن كلغة عالمية لا تحتاج إلى ترجمة.
عُرضت أعمال الحواجري في العديد من المعارض في فلسطين وخارجها وتلقى دعوات للمشاركة في معارض فنية في المملكة المتحدة وإيطاليا وفرنسا وسويسرا والنمسا واليابان والأرجنتين والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية ودبي وأبو ظبي والبحرين وقطر والأردن ومصر ولبنان وإسبانيا.
هيدرا باس – (Hydra Pace) منصة التعاون والتبادل الفني هي تكاتف لثلاثة شُركاء من سلوفينيا وفلسطين وسلوفاكيا، بهدف تشكيل شبكة عالمية متنامية من برامج إقامات فنية قائمة وجديدة تستهدف فنانين معروفين وناشئين. يُموَل المشروع من قبل مؤسسة آنا ليند والاتحاد الأوروبي.
يتم دعم برنامج الإقامة في KAIR Košice Artist Residence باستخدام التمويل العام من قبل مجلس الفنون السلوفاكي
