Duration of the exhibition: 30.10. – 4.11.2019

Project Juncture brings a new vision and experience with liaison between reality and imagination. The author is generally interested in nature and urban contexts, and as the meaning of the project’s name, the moment of the connection consists of various places and different times. The starting point for Yakın’s work was the situation of replacement and being a stranger.
‘While I was walking in Kosice, I was noticing variable forms and shapes in the different neighbourhoods, focusing on surfaces, especially. Taken photos of them and its details, later on served me for inspiration for my paintings.
In my exhibition are used three different mediums – paintings, photographs and installations, aiming to use ordinary objects and place images as the potentials of new meanings.’- Ezgi Yakın.

Ezgi Yakın is an artist, writer and academic. The world of images that Yakın creates draws from the process itself, interacts with the collective subconscious, and explores the elements of the self. The fluidity and subtlety of her images go through metamorphosis, leaving reality and regrouping. One can look at them as something that arises from a given moment to nothing, thus acquiring a utopian shape as ambivalent imaginary fractions.
Yakın completed her studies at the Department of Painting at the Dokuz Eylül University in 2015, where she then started her postgraduate studies and works as a research assistant.
