Together with Creative Industry Košice and the East Slovak Gallery, we cordially invite you to a site-specific installation by German multimedia artist Abel Korinský and Istanbul-based software engineer and new media artist Orhan “aib” Kavrakoğlu.

World’s End tracks artificial satellites over Košice using astronomical data. This data is transferred to an immersive audiovisual installation consisting of 120 light bulbs and a multichannel surround system. In this way, the work materializes the ephemeral, ever-fleeting motions of the satellites into a form easily experienced by visitors in real space.

Abel Korinsky (*1985) is a multimedia artist based in Berlin where together with his twin brother run Studio Korinsky. Through audio-visual installations and site-specific works, they are trying to provide a different experience demanding of all the senses. Abel Korinsky has been picked for a two-month media art residency in Košice organized in collaboration with Creative Industry Košice last autumn. During the residency, he worked on a site-specific project using the real-time data of the Starlink satellite program from the company SpaceX.

Orhan “aib” Kavrakoğlu is an Istanbul-based software engineer, flow and new media artist. Orhan is fascinated by the universe. He aims to share this fascination through his artwork and deepen his appreciation by conversing and collaborating. He was born in 1984 in Istanbul. Self-taught despite his classical education, he likes hacking (tinkering with) things and professionally develops and consults for hardware and software projects.

The residency program is supported using public funding by Slovak Arts Council. The residency is organized in cooperation with Creative Industry Košice within Košice’s designation as UNESCO Creative City of media arts.

The exhibition is organized in cooperation with the East Slovak Gallery.
