We cordially invite you to the lecture The City and the City with Natalia Revko, who will introduce you to modern and contemporary art in Odesa, Ukraine.

The Artist Exchange Program of the Budapest Gallery and KAIR Košice Artist in Residence invite visual or interdisciplinary artists  (no need to have previous collaboration) from Slovakia to take part in the two-month residency in Budapest, Hungary.

Natalia Revko is an independent curator and contemporary art researcher. She is focusing on the underground conceptual art practices of the 1980s and the origin of the first contemporary art institutions and curation approaches in independent Ukraine in the 1990s. This area of interest arose from her experiences working as an archivist at the Museum of Odesa Modern Art. For now, she continues the research independently, collecting oral stories and digitizing artists’ archives.

This year we are kicking off the open studios night with our two newest residents – Olena Pronkina and Natalia Revko. The artist and the curator will tell you more about their work, its origins and current focus. See you on the 25th of January in our space.

Olena Pronkina (*1988) was born in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and grew up in Kyiv (Ukraine). In 2013 she received a Master’s degree in Monumental Arts from the Kyiv State Institute of Decorative Applied Arts and Design named after Mychailo Boichuk.

Within the framework of an international project supported by the Creative Europe program, we are looking for artists based in the Czech Republic who are willing to work in the international context and are interested in working with the topic of center/periphery dichotomy with a new and challenging approach.
