Košice Artist in Residence
In the video installation High Fever, visual artist Eunju Hong presents a non-linear story of the mining industry and its associated mythologies and superstitions. Blending two worlds, she reveals the history of humanity’s desire for knowledge of the geological and dark depths of the earth through period mining mechanical machines.
Yulia Manukian’s research during her residency at KAIR focuses on the period of interwar modernism in Košice. She focuses on two levels of the city’s heritage: the architecture of the future and the promotion of a creative national and local identity.
A series of drawings and oil paintings by the Polish visual artist Beata Rojek presents a story in progress whose formal and symbolic starting point comes from the woods. The artist’s frequent presence in the surrounding forests of Košice becomes a tangible, present space, a source of events, and a network of emotional experiences.

The exhibition Outside of Eden will present two projects of Hungarian artists Nóra Szabó and Asztrid Csatlós which were created during their summer residency within the KAIR Kosice Artist in Residence. In both projects, the central theme is transition, the transformation of being and life that metamorphoses.
