Yury Beryozkin (BY)
Yury Beryozkin is a Belarusian artist and writer based in Prague, whose multidisciplinary practice combines ceramics, installation, participatory art, creative writing, and speculative research. In his practice, he explores how stories, ecosystems, and systems of knowledge emerge through interconnected networks. Drawing from folklore, ecology, sacred geometry, dreams, and systems theory, he develops living cosmologies and interconnected worlds that blur the boundaries between mythology, ecology, technology, and collective imagination. In doing so, he investigates the relationships between humans, non-human entities, and evolving networks of knowledge.
A central motif and recurring framework within his work is the Tree of Life—a constantly evolving structure that connects different realms of existence through patterns shared by roots, blood vessels, rivers, mycelial networks, lightning, and neural pathways. These motifs of trees, roots, mycelium, archives, and collective memory are often materialized through clay, organic matter, found objects, text, and participatory structures. Through these relationships, Beryozkin investigates how memory, consciousness, and culture grow, decay, and transform over time.
Many of his projects take the form of participatory systems, including self-developed oracle card systems that function as tools for storytelling, reflection, and collective meaning-making. Rather than offering fixed answers, they generate unexpected connections between personal experience, folklore, dreams, and speculative futures. By combining material processes with fictional narratives and research-based inquiry, the artist seeks to create spaces where scientific and poetic ways of understanding the world can coexist, overlap, and produce new forms of knowledge.
