Miroslav Tóth (*1981) is composer, saxophonist, vocalist and lector. He is focused on contemporary music, experimental music, improvised music, free jazz and conceptual audiovisual work. He is author of many compositions for solo instruments, chamber and ensemble pieces and music for film. He graduated at Academy for Performing Art – VŠMU in Bratislava where he studied composition with composer Vladimír Godár. Before, he studied composition with composers Ilja Zeljenka, Jevgenij Iršai. and Musicology on Comenius University in Bratislava. He studied saxophone at the Conservatory with Dušan Húšťava, piano with Venceslava Ilievska. He is author of three opera pieces. First, called OUTPARK was presented in 2012. With Michal Paľko he recorded video opera a Tooth for a Tooth (2013, Štiavnica). He spent three months at residency in Arnhem, Netherlands, where he created site-specific opera The Magic Massage Bar for Public Officers (in two acts). Now he is preparing continuation of Tooth for a Tooth opera called Eye for an Eye and Slovak premiere of The Magic Massage Bar.

From 2007 to 2010, he realized audiovisual conceptual project Frutti di mare in 11 parts with more than 65 instrumentalists. He is founder and artistic leader of improvisational symphony orchestra Musica falsa et ficta (from 2006) – currently, he works on project Next Variations for Goldberg. Recently, he prepared new record and performance with the group Dunkeltherapy II. He also performs in experimental music bands/projects: Shibuya Motors (with ddkern and Slávo Krekovič – CD: Shibuya Motors with ddkern, 2010 AtraktArt), My Live Evil (with Alexander Platzner duo), Michal Paľko & Miroslav Tóth duo (recorded first CD in May 2012, Krakow, Poland ) and free jazz trio Ensemble 56 with Rafal Mazur and Miecislaw Górka. His pieces were presented at many concerts and festivals in Slovakia and abroad. As leader, he organizes music workshops and Sound Poetry Festival ô. Between 2010 – 2012 he worked for ´Music Centre´ in Bratislava and between 2008 – 2013 he taught audio-visual studies at University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava. At the present time he is a freelance artist.

Miro took part in the residency in Arnhem, the Netherlands from October until December 2013. This residency was the cooperation of K.A.I.R. with Motel Spatie.
