Samuel Velebný (SVK)

Residency: August - September 2019

Samuel Velebný is a multimedia visual artist living in Košice, who, in cooperation with the project K.A.I.R. Košice Artist in Residence and Nazar Voitovich Art Residence is participating in a residency stay in Ukraine. He studied architecture at the Faculty of Arts of the Technical University of Košice and Interaction Design at the Glasgow School of Art and Time-based and Interactive Media at the Kunstuniversität Linz. He is a member of studio Natreto and Street Art Communication and, among other things, he participated in the process of creating several monumental paintings both indoors and outdoors.

As a member of VUNU Gallery, he is in charge of visual communication and exhibition production. Currently, he is completing his studies at the Faculty of Arts in Košice in the New Media department, where he combines spatial constructions with painting, graphics, and digital media installations. He deals with various aspects of urban space, data visualization, studying the relationship between science, technology, society and the environment.

The residency is supported using public funding by Slovak Arts Council. The residency is also supported by Creative Industry Košice.  The residency is organized in cooperation with Nazar Voitovich Art Residence.
