Eszter Metzing – Be Water
Soft sculpture workshop by using wet felting technique
“Be water.” The saying teaches that water does not stop to argue with obstacles, it simply passes through them, seeking the path of least resistance.
In Eszter Metzing’s artistic practice, water has for years been a central material and conceptual framework: not a fixed form, but flow, seepage, and interconnection. The workshop departs from hydrofeminist thinking, which understands the body and its environment not as separate entities, but as mutually shaping systems written into one another.
In the artist’s works, borosilicate glass carries the presence of water – it “flows out” of textile soft sculptures, surfacing as a source made visible and tangible. During the workshop, participants will create organic objects from white, natural felting wool and pre-made glass elements — using the simplest needle-free, soap-and-water felting technique, shaping the material solely with their hands and with water.
