Borderline Offensive: Residency in Košice
Borderline Offensive je trojročný medzinárodný projekt, ktorý spája novoprichádzajúcich migrantov a lokálne komunity. Rezidencia štyroch umelcov – Petra Kočiša, Sytze Schalk, PROTA and Khaled Jarrar sa bude konať od 22.6. do 1.7. v Košiciach. Cieľom tohto projektu je využiť kultúru, umenie a humor na adresovanie náročných tém ako sú problémy migrácie, kontaktných zón a interkultúrneho konfliktu a ako nástroj na zdieľanie myšlienok, názorov, vedomostí a spoločného smiechu.

Peter Kočiš vyštudoval na Fakulte dramatických umení na Akadémii Umení v Banskej Bystrici. Je spoluzakladateľom a členom divadla NA PERÓNE, v ktorom pôsobí ako herec a režisér. Od roku 2003 učí herectvo na Konzervatóriu Jozefa Adamoviča v Košiciach. Pracuje ako externý režisér RTVS a taktiež režíruje v divadlách malých javiskových foriem.
Sytze Schalk je oceňovaný holandský dramatik, (sociálny) herný dizajnér a producent transmedie. Po absolvovaní odboru ‚Writing in Performance‘ na Utrechtskej škole umení pracoval ako nezávislý dramatik, scenárista a učiteľ na niekoľkých holandských a medzinárodných produkciách. Okrem svojej práce spisovateľa a dizajnéra, taktiež pôsobí ako učiteľ a výskumník naratívneho dizajnu na Utrechtskej škole umenia.
PROTA (Dragan Protic) je spoluzakladateľom skupiny ŠKART (rejects/ausschus/scarto), založenej v roku 1990 na Fakulte Architektúry v Belehrade, Srbsku- Juhoslávii, ktorej hlavným konceptom je „Architektúra ľudských vzťahov“. Prostredníctvom trvalého vnútorného konfliktu skupina spolu s rôznymi spolupracovníkmi prežila takmer tri desaťročia ako kolektív, ktorý spochybňuje hranaté formy poézie, architektúry, grafického dizajnu, vydavateľstva, hudby, performancie, alternatívneho vzdelávania a sociálneho aktivizmu.

Khaled Jarrar je multidisciplinárny palestínsky umelec, ktorý pracuje a žije v Ramalláhu. Svoje štúdium ukončil na palestínskej polytechnickej univerzite (Interiérový dizajn) a neskôr v roku 2011 ukončil bakalárske štúdium vizuálneho umenia na Akadémii umenia v Palestíne. Khaled skúma vplyv moderných bojov o moc na bežných občanoch a jeho odvážne, niekedy kontroverzné projekty často zahŕňajú rôzne médiá, ako sú fotografie, videá a inštalácie zamerané na Palestínu a ktoré mu získali medzinárodné uznanie.

Projekt je podporený z garantovej schémy Creative Europe, ďalej projekt z verejných zdrojov podporil Fond na podporu umenia a Västra Götaland Region. V Košiciach projekt organizuje Creative Industry Košice v spolupráci s K.A.I.R. Košice Artist in Residence.
Borderline Offensive is a three-year transnational project which brings together newly arrived migrants and local communities. The residency of four artist – Peter Kočiš, Sytze Schalk, PROTA and Khaled Jarrar will take part in Košice, Slovakia from the 22nd of June till the 1st of July. The aim of the project is to use culture, art, and humor, to address difficult topics, such as issues of migration, sociological contact zones, and intercultural conflict, and as a tool to share thoughts, opinions, knowledge and to laugh together.

Peter Kočiš has finished his master’s studies at Department of Dramatic Arts at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica. He is a co-founder and a member of a theater NA PERÓNE, in which he works as an actor and director. Since 2003 he has been teaching acting at Jozef Adamovič Conservatory in Košice. He works as an external director in RTVS and he also directs in small stage theaters.
Sytze Schalk is an award-winning Dutch playwright, (social) game designer and transmedia content producer. After graduating from the ‚Writing in Performance‘ school at the Utrecht School of Arts he worked as an independent playwright, scriptwriter, and teacher on several Dutch and international productions. Apart from his work as a writer and designer, he is also a teacher and researcher in narrative design at the Utrecht School of Arts.
PROTA (Dragan Protic) is a co-founder of the ŠKART (rejects/ausschus/scarto) group, founded in 1990 at Architecture Faculty in Belgrade, Serbia-Yugoslavia which’s main concept is „Architecture of the human relationships“. Through permanent inner conflict, together with various collaborators, the group survived for almost 3 decades as collective which is questioning edged forms of poetry, architecture, graphic design, publishing, music, performance, alternative education and social activism.

Khaled Jarrar is a multidisciplinary Palestinian artist who works and lives in Ramallah. He finished his studies at the Palestine Polytechnic University (Interior Design) and then later in 2011 he finished his bachelor’s studies of Visual Arts at the Academy of Art Palestine. Khaled explores the impact of modern-day power struggles on ordinary citizens and his bold, sometimes controversial projects often include various media such as photography, videos, and installations that are focused on Palestine and which have earned him international recognition.
