Vlasta Žáková (SK)

„Vlasta Žáková ‘disrupted’ any possible relations with the traditional decorative forms of so called “arrases” or tapestries by her pictures Unstoppable girls and Unforgettable girls (2006). Human beings as the figures start to dominate in several compositional plans. She connects more figural fragments as a characteristic choice of moments of particular memories unified in one picture as a work of art. Excellent mastering of technical problems of embroidery enables Žáková to work on principles of modelling of shapes close to graphic techniques. A composition of the picture (for example Unforgettable girls) then consists of contrasts of figures presented by a dim outline and vice versa the presentation of figures in their natural corporeality enhanced by the plastic effect of a dense colourful embroidery.“ (Peter Tajkov, curator)

Žáková spent two months of summer 2013 in London at Red Gallery. The grouping around the RED gallery enabled her to get to know creative people and establish cooperation with Stephunk T and Ruta Pu of the Terrible Twins. As a result she presented her work at the opening on 24 August with a performance titled Ultraviolet Movement, the basis of which was Žáková’s textile flexible sculpture with musical and theatrical support. “The black and white colour of the sculpture stands out under UV light in a darkened room at the RED gallery. The soft sculpture presents the two most recent creative lines of Žáková, the party theme versus the magical world. It depicts a crowd of people mutated into a single being, which is stuck at the intersection of these two worlds in a psychedelic dance move. As a supporting visual point, the show included small format paintings, inspired by the residence in London, memories and people. Vlasta Žáková perceived the total effect as very stimulating and for her creative program it was a step forward, as her previous sculptures had always been static.

„Vlasta Žáková rozvrátila akýkoľvek vzťah s tradičnými dekoratívnymi formami ako gobelín alebo tapisérie, a to prostredníctvom svojich obrazov Unstoppable girls (Nezastaviteľné dievčatá) a Unforgettable girls (Nezabudnuteľné dievčatá) v roku 2006. Ľudské bytosti ako postavy začínajú dominovať v niekoľkých kompozičných plánoch autorky. Spája viac obrazných fragmentov ako charakteristickú voľbu momentov určitých spomienok, ktoré sú zjednotené do jedného obrazu ako umelecké dielo. Dokonalé zvládnutie technických problémov pri výšivke umožňuje Žákovej pracovať na princípoch modelovania tvarov blízkych k grafickým technikám. Kompozícia obrazu (napríklad pri Unforgettable girls) potom pozostáva z kontrastu postáv zobrazených nejasnými obrysmi, a naopak, zobrazenie postáv v ich prirodzenej telesnosti, ktoré je ešte zosilnené plastickým efektom hustej farebnej výšivky“ (Peterj Tajkov, supervízor)

Žáková strávila dva mesiace v lete 2013 v Londýne v Red Gallery. Pracovníci v galérii jej umožnili spoznať mnoho kreatívnych ľudí a vytvoriť spoluprácu s Stephunk T a Ruta Pu z Terrible Twinns. Výsledkom sa stala prezentácia na otvorení 24. Augusta na výstave nazvanej Ultraviolet Movement, kde základ tvorili Žákovej textilné, flexibilné sochy doprevádzané hudbou a divadlom. Čierna a biela farba sôch sú nasvietené UV svetlom v tmavej miestnosti RED galérie. Jemné sochy reprezentujú dve najnovšie kreatívne línie Žákovej diel, tématika party versus magický svet. Zachytáva masu ľudí zmorfovaných do jedného bytia, ktorá sa zasekla pri prelínaní sa týchto svetov v divokom psychadelickom pohybe. Vlasta vnímala tento efekt ako veľmi stimulujúci, a pre jej kreatívny program to bol krok vpred, nakoľko jej predchádzajúce sochy boli stále statické.
