Weronika Trojańska: The Waiters
Performance
We invite you to a movement performance by Polish artist Weronika Trojańska, which will take place in the main building of the Railway Station in Košice.
“The Waiters” ufolds within a landscape defined by suspension. The train station, a place built for departures, pauses, and delays, becomes a living metaphor for waiting itself. It gathers those who are in transit yet never entirely moving: passengers, workers, regulars, drifters. Their gestures, silences, and glances compose the quiet choreography of anticipation. Here, waiting is not merely a pause before something begins but an ongoing state, a condition we inhabit daily, almost unconsciously. Waiting, like breathing, is embedded in our being. The station reflects this broader rhythm of existence – the constant sense of being on the verge, in-between, not yet there. Each person carries their own waitings, distinct and continuous, yet intertwined with those of others. Together, they form a collective body suspended in time. “The Waiters” ritualizes non-eventfulness, transforming the ordinary act of waiting into a reflection on how we occupy time, how we share space, and how the seemingly passive moments between events reveal the deeper structures of how we exist – and endure – together.
Weronika Trojańska (PL) is an interdisciplinary artist working with sound, embodiment, and the politics of appropriation. Working between performance and sound installation, she explores the psychoacoustics of the human body—the musicality of speech, silence, and laughter—and how these shape social identity. She often invites others into her process, creating shared spaces that question the roles of artist, audience, and artwork.
