The exhibition project “K.A.I.R. lab” is the second in the series of exhibition organised as part of the project Y – Young Point. It has been developed in cooperation of Kosice 2013 – European capital of culture, K.A.I.R. Košice Artist in Residence and the East Slovakian Gallery in Košice. The project represents two independent artistic interventions in the gallery space, realized by Lucija Smodiš and Alexander Raevski. After two month living in Kosice, both artists respond to the local East Slovakian culture in comparison with their own cultures and traditions. Each intervention, however, shows the artists view on the city of Kosice through the filter of their origin and identity.

Lucija Smodiš (1984, Maribor, Slovenia) studied the visual arts at the Faculty of Education, University of Maribor. She has lived and worked in Maribor as a curator and a cultural manager. In her work, she has primarily, but not necessarily, employed video and public space where she observes reactions of people to unusual situations and sounds.

Alexander Raevski (1979, Chisinau, Moldova) studied at the Faculty of Architecture, the Technical University of Moldova, and at the Faculty of Education, Ion Creanga Pedagogical State University inChisnau (painting). He has dealt with social, political and psychological aspects of the world view of sportsmen who were forced, for health reasons, to abandon the career of professional sportsmen. In his work he is using photography, video and the medium of sculpture.
