Artist talk and presentation of projects by Maksym Khodak and Mark Chehodaiev, Ukrainian artists and residents of KAIR Košice Artist in Residence
During the presentation of projects and the accompanying artist talk, Ukrainian artists Maksym Khodak and Mark Chehodaiev will present you with a more comprehensive picture of their previous artworks, relevant topics and work procedures, which have been intensively re-evaluated since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. The current critical situation has affected the development and work process of the authors during their two-month residency.
Mark Chehodaiev’s project draws the viewer’s attention to objects (clothing, personal items) located in the streets of Košice. He works with the concept of loss and simulation of a certain memory retention mechanism, by generating durable replicas of found objects in the context of public space.
In his project, Maksym Khodak reflects on the message of art in times of war, how its purpose is changing, and how it is currently becoming a means of raising financial support for organizations directly helping people in Ukraine. Maksym reflects this theme through hand-made moneyboxes, works of art, the purpose of which will be to raise money to support Ukrainian art.
The residency is supported using public funding by Slovak Arts Council. The residency is organized in cooperation with Nazar Voitovich Art Residence.
